Sorry if I sounded so negative. I'm not a numbers-matching guy so that car would be more than welcome in my garage. However,if you're trying to pass the car off as an original, you're going to have to have documentation to back it up.

I assume the dealer would have had to install the SS hood as that wasn’t a factory option.  Gauges were not a SS item but could be ordered on any V8 Malibu or SS and would have been special order or either.  I question the 375hp w/factory air as GM didn’t put A/C on solid lifter engines. It’s possible the dealer could have added aftermarket A/C and that was quite common in the 60s.  Aftermarket A/C cost less than factory A/C, I helped install a lot of them. Do you have an engine number from the engine pad?  That would verify a factory 375hp engine.  In any event, sounds like a nice Elky!

YES MY 66 CHEVELLE IS VIN#138. BUT MY 66 ELCO CAME WITH SS OPTIONS HOOD DASH  GAUGES ECT. IT HAD A 396/375 WITH AC AS WAS TOLD BY THE ORIGINAL OWNER. HE SPECIAL ORDERED IT WITH  ALL THOSE OPTIONS. HE SAID HE SOLD IT BECAUSE OF ONLY 10 MILES TO THE GALLON OF GAS. I HAVE NO REASON NOT TO BELIEVE HIM. I JUST AM TRYING TO GO BACK ORIGINAL.

JOHN.
