I'm not offended at all. Are you saying that silicone can get through the paint & primer and into the pores of the metal? I would not have expected it to be quite that tenacious. I also don't have it in the window channel at all. It's only where the moldings meet the body & the glass, so I didn't expect it to be that hard to get rid of. Thanks for the tip about the urethane sealant. I had never heard of that.

It gets into the pores of the metal and defys you to get it out. Then after painting it will cause flaws and lifting. The guy that does my paint work has a fit if he sees silicone in my building. I would suggest using Urethane winshield sealant instead to stop your leaks around the seal. And only new metal should be used to repair the rust holes.
