My guess is I spun it about a minute total in two
or three shorter spins. I just spun it again for a full minute and still
see no oil at the rockers. Yup, the sending
unit hole is plugged.

Dennis how long have you been spinning it? When I
preoiled my crate motor, it seemed to take quite a bit longer than I
expected to get the oil up. Do you have the oil pressure sending unit
hole (near distributor) closed off?

Yes you should see oil
coming out of the little hole at the pushrod seat on the rocker arm.
If you don't have the rockers in place and adjusted, the oil
is probably leaking out where the pushrod sits in the lifter.
Also make sure you're spinning the oil pump in the right direction
- small & big block Chevy distributors spin clockwise.

of starting my new 350 and there is no sign of oil flow in the rocker
arm area. Shouldn't oil come out of the top of the
