Bill don't feel bad, I did the same thing on my 1968 right before Chevellabration last year...it just melts the black backing and looks terrible !!

The adhesive reacts with the plastic and bubbles up the chrome & ribs in the insert. I ruined a $40 piece and didn't want the same thing to happen to anyone else. >:-o BillL Terry S.
