John,

On my stock 68 El Camino door handles, I'm measure about 3.85 inches long.  This is with the bend at the end taken into account.  So, I'm not sure... but it appears that mine are in between your two measurements.  I know for sure that they are the stock handles.  This car hasn't ever been owned by anyone else.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] El Camino outer door handles

When I redid my El Camino I was told that the shafts on the replacement door handle buttons (M1390A) at about 4 and 3/16 inches from end to end were too long. I have some new buttons (M1037C) that measure a total of about 3 and 5/16 inches long. If anyone has their 1964-67 or 1968-72 El Camino door handles apart, can you tell me how long the button and shaft measure end to end and the year of your EC? I am hoping that these new shorter buttons will also work for El Caminos.

Thanks,

John Nasta
