[Chevelle-list] Transmission Problem?

Jumped in the 72 Monte Carlo and made quick trip to auto parts store. 
On way back to shop cruising along with Aretha Franklin on CD player, 
A/C blowing cold air when suddenly the trans downshifted into 1st, like 
hitting brick wall, was doing 50mph at time in OD.  Have a Phoenix built 
2004R.  It kept jumping in and out of different gears on way home and 
later tried to pull it inside shop for the night and didn't want to 
pull, have slight up slope going into shop.  Guess I'll load it up when 
we get back from Vegas and take it over to Phoenix in Weatherford and 
let them look at it and maybe even touch it.  It is a mighty confused 
transmission.
