finish
Kevin, The hinges and springs were natural
steel color. GM used a phosphate coating. Most people seem to paint
them. If you want the natural look try sandblasting them and paint with a
satin clear coat. I like using Eastwoods silver cadnium paint, but this is
not correct.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Hood hinge
finish
Does anyone know the correct color/finish for
the hood hinges on a '68 Chevelle? I've seen them satin black, gloss
black, and "cast grey". I'm not sure what color they originally
were.... Thanks in advance.
Also, with Ed's help I think I finally solved
the AC dash vent issue. The 68 and 69 dash vents are in fact the
same, but they are DIFFERENT than the 66-67 vents. Anyone who sells
a vent that claims to fit 66-67 & 69 Chevelles doesn't know what they
have. Most likely, it's a 66-67 vent ONLY. Thanks to all that
helped me decipher this, especially Ed who was kind enough to send me one
of his vents to work with.
