Your problem may be that the key or the key slot is worn alot . Try
wedging something in with the key. so it will grasp tight when you pull on
the key after turning past acc. gm66

Hello all,
It's time to get the key assembly out of the dash to restore it. Most
tumblers that I've taken out of GM cars takes a small wire inserted into
the
hole, you turn past ACC, and the tumbler comes out. This doesn't seem to
work for the tumbler on my 68 El Camino. I tried the same thing going
past
start, but no luck. When I insert the wire in the hole, it allows the
lock
assembly to turn PAST ACC, but it doesn't seem to want to come out. The
key
just pops out of the assembly. What am I doing wrong?
