I have a 5" Harwood cowl hood on my '69. Not exactly a 71/2, but maybe
close enough for you.
See it here: http://www.prostreetcar.com/69_malibu.html
Some things to keep in mind with a tall cowl FB hood;
1) They warp at the rear corners in the sun/heat, which is typical of
FB hoods.
2) Visibility is really limited, as in I have about a 2-3" "window" to
look through between the cowl and the mirror. Also, the right front
corner of the car is totally obstructed
3) I can't use the windshield washers without cutting the rear lip off
the hood, which I'm not too eager to do for structure/strength reasons
4) The stock hood with cowl seal will block off the engine compartment
air (ie hot air) from entering the cowl vents. I'm going to try a
stock cowl seal, but as it is now, my car feels like the heater is on
once the engine is hot because the engine compartment air comes right
inside.
I really like my hood, but these are just some things I learned the hard
way. The visibility issues can be dealt with, but not the wipers, and
hopefully I can improve the hot air issue.
One cool feature (to me anyway) is that you can put gauges inside the
cowl. Clean look, easy viewing, they don't fade/corrode, and you don't
have to clean them. :-)
Take care,
Mike

I was wondering if anyone out there has a pic of a 71-72 Chevelle with an
aftermarket 4-inch or 6-inch cowl hood.
I saw a few this weekend, but I wasn't sure what size they were.
