Hello:you can get a alternator built to any specs,with the load that you had in the rain,actually a 63 amp it should have been okay,take the alternator and get it tested for correct operation,also make shure the belt was tight,if you can put a avr or a similiar tested on the car,to see if the alternator was actually putting out as close as possible to 63 amps would be a good test to see if the alternator is okay internally.

I was wondering what size of Alternator I should be using on my 1968 Beaumont (350/350). I have a 63 amp and it was working good until Sunday night I got caught in the rain coming home from cruise night. With wipers,lights and heater blower going the volts were down to 12 and was a little worried. What size Alternator are most of uses using.
