I have an oil spout and an old spirial coke machine too. I think I still have
some oil in cans in the barn. I was born in 1943 so these items were familar to
me. I ran a Shell station in the early 60's when I aquired all. Nope none for
sale. gm66

I was born in 73. I'm not sure "when they were popular". I remember them
when I was a kid in Kentucky. I'm guessing that they were popular long
before I ever came across it. When I moved from KY to Baltimore, I had
quite a culture shock! LOL.
None of my MD friends have ever heard of those machines.

I was born in 74. When were those popular? I've heard of them but do not
recall ever seeing one. They sound awesome though!

How about those old Coke machines where you put in your quarter, then snaked
the bottle around until it came out?

I would love to get myself an old fashioned can of oil and a spout to have
in my garage. Anybody know where I can get one?

What do you mean "up until a few years ago"? Doesn't everyone still have
one in their garage???

Yeah! I remember those oil cans! Up until a few years ago, I still had one
of those old metal spouts you had to stab into the top of the can.

It's a shallow dent in the metal that will 'pop' in and out where the metal
stretched just enough. The name refers to the old metal lidded oil cans that
would do the same thing when you squeezed the sides. Does anyone remember
the old oil cans that you had to have a spout for? What about rotary phones?
God I feel old.
