Mike, have you bought any front end parts for your 67 yet? If not,are you
planning a spindle change? The only tall spindle I would consider would be
the forged alum AFX units from ATS. These are the cat's meow but are very
pricey at around $800 w/steering arms and they also require C5/C6 Corvette
brakes with the attendant 17" or larger diameter wheels to clear them. The
route I'm going on my car is the Stage II kit from SC&C.
http://www.scandc.com/suspensions.htm Running my stock A-body spindles with
SC&C's upper control arms and their Howe taller upper & lower ball joints
will be about 99% as good as the AFX spindle set-up and still allow me to
keep my Baer C4 brakes. This kit costs $719 but since I sold my Global West
upper a-arms for $450,I only had to come up with another $269. What I really
like about either set-up is the huge reduction in bumpsteer these cars have
and the big improvement in negative camber and better roll center. B-body
spindles offer none of these benefits and most knowledgeable chassis experts
no longer recommend them. For those of you running them and the required
custom upper a-arms,the new AFX spindles work very well with the latter
arms.
Another option is the suspension set-up being utilized by Keith Anderson on
his killer 70 SS Elky. Maybe he will post his opinions.
