Gentlemen (and ladies), I've been a member of this list a LOOONNGGG time (since around '98, if memory serves). Last week I shot out a cry for help regarding my '66 327, and what I thought might be a valve tap or something related happening at 2K RPMs.
Everyone provided some great input, but 2 folks came forward suggesting for me to check the torque converter bolts, as they'd had the same issue and that seemed to be the problem for them. Well tonight, I finally escaped wife and daughter and was able to get out to Long Tall Sally to check the torque converter bolt status. What I found had me pretty shocked: one of the three bolts was really loose, and one was completely MIA!!! I went for the infamous coffee can, dug out a new bolt and washer, and got everything back together.. Although I haven't had a chance to do a test run yet, to confirm this was my issue, it sure sounds like a pretty good sign. I have to tell all of you that this would probably have been the LAST thing I would have suspected to be the problem- But as I mentioned in the title, you guys definitely know your $h!t, and I'm really appreciative. Stay Tuned. Regards, Jim '66 Malibu http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jbiii/my66.htm ____________________________________________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
