Tim- Is this a long or short water pump?

66 would have been short in original configuration, with the alternator on
the driver’s side. The pulleys and brackets for this are common enough in
reproduction these days, although a bit spendy.

Usually when the alt is on the passenger side, it has a long water pump.
Last I knew you could go down to your local GM dealer and buy the complete
set for a 1974 454, which would get you everything you need.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] A Pully quagmire 66 Chevelle

Hi Gang, I am trying to solve the pulley puzzle on my BB 396, I have the
alternator located on the left cylinder head (if your standing in front of
the car) Does anyone know of a matched pulleys set crank, alt, long water
pump and PS that will allow the belts to line up properly. I just replaced
the PS pump and used an OE pulleys. The previous owner used anything and
everything he could find that wasn't meant for the car I think he had stock
in JC Whitney. I am not opposed to going all OE if it works, thought I would
consult the experts.

Thanks for your help
