It moves the pipes around. My hookers fit but the slight move at the
head changed things and spots on top that were tight weren't and I had
to ding one of my wrap around the frame pipes. With the taller valve
covers and valve cover rails I had to move the master cylinder booster
to the side when I adjusted the valves. About 2 years of that and I
sold the heads off. Went back to worked iron 781 oval ports. Enough of
that ramble..

Good luck on your quest. If a pipe is only slightly touching you can
ding them. If hitting badly it is possible you received a bad set or
misboxed set. Is there a part number stamped in the header?

Do the Merlin heads you are running have raised exhaust ports? I ran
some Brodix heads that created a couple issues due to the Exhaust port
being raised.

Hopefully Jimmy C's pics may shed some light and help you.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] big block headers

Hello again,
I have a 72 chevelle ss 454 BB I tried to put my Headman headers (part #

66002)on and found they hit the airconditioning box. I have Merlin
heads,
they have D shaped exhaust ports, so I need the primary tubes to be at
least
2". Does anybody know what will fit? They do not need to be Headman
although
they look great!

Thanks
 Bill
