Hi guys...

On a 1970 396 engine, I'm having trouble with the oil pressure.

When I first start the car, the pressure is about 45PSI at idle, after driving
and warming the engine, the pressure drops to around 20PSI at idle in gear. At
that point, there is an audible noise knocking noise from the motor, which at
this point I assume to be a lifter. As soon as the RPM is increased, the
pressure shoots up and the noise goes away.

So where I'm stuck at, is wondering if the noisy lifter is the cause or a
symptom of the low oil pressure. I am told there was a new high volume pump
installed.

Looking for any input the list can offer.

Thank you
