I've heard basically the same thing. Also heard different solutions. 1- Add the GM new engine oil additive at each oil change. 2 - Rotella (sp?) is a Shell diesel motor oil that works. If you check the engine forum at Chevelle Tech there is a whole lot of more complete info on the subject.

Hey wondering if anyone else has heard this, i am not sure if it is just B/S or if it is true. i have heard it now from 2-completely diffrent sources: NAPA and my engine builder. i was told they took out the Zinc (?) from motor oil so now vehicles with flat tappets (lifters) are eating the camshafts- i am not sure how long it takes to destroy the cam?? but i think i heard a diesel oil still has this Zinc-- also there is a Penzoil racing oil that still has it but is hard to find. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
