I have the large and small red Powerball, and frankly I don't see where it really helps. I use a special fluoride cleaner to remove any oxidation if it's been a while since I polished them, then wipe on the wax and then hand buff off with two rags. One to get the majority of the white and black residue off the wheel, and the last clean rag to buff it to a shine!
I know to do the job right, I will take the Weld wheels off next time. It would help!
