Dan and all:

Can't you cover up the opti and then go after it with the pressure washer?

Thanks for the info, but I’m still wondering how to clean the engine. I have a
special cleaner from Jakel that works great on Aluminum, but it must be washed
off. It could be done with a simple water hose, but again I worry about
screwing something up. My engine is from a 1996 Z28 Camaro, so I know it has
the improved Optispark dist.

I thought about upgrading the GM Optispark to an MSD unit, but Mark at Street
and Performance said to stick with the GM product, because they have had
problems with aftermarket Optispark dist.. I have had great performance from
everything I have bought from MSD. It does surprise me.

Thanks!

Dan

DO NOT pressure clean behind your water pump. That is where your distributer
is. It will take in water and you will destroy it. Costs about 400- 500 to
replace it. That is just the part alone. I had my engine detailed by someone
who did not know, it cost me major bucks to get it right after that incident.
