The 63 I had I didn't even bother figuring the mpg...... it was a half a tank
to town, a half a tank back!!!!

think, on a good day, he got around 9 miles to the gal mileage, but gas was 35
cents a gal so it wasn't a issue. His folks were well off anyway. He also drove
a '65/'66 XKE Jaguar. This was around 1968/1971.

Speaking of old hearses....

When I was in Little League (some 30 years ago), my Dad had acquired a early
60s or so Caddy Hearse. As I recall, he traded a stack of Playboys about 4'
tall. This became his "beer run" machine, as they (the Jaycees) could put a lot
of cases in there.

For an away Little Leage game, he cleaned out the old hearse, and we used it to
drive the entire team to the away game. And he let us take shoe polish over
the entire car! it was a hoot!

And if memory serves, he traded it off for a shotgun.....

had a 63 ambulance, awsome car it was kind of freaky though to drive
sometimes.... think about it dead people ride in a hearse...... people have
DIED in an ambulance!!! Otherwise I would love to get another one, or just a
regular Fleetwood, or something like that, they make awsome cruisers.
