Has photocopies of general information pertaining to the model year, not
specific to any one car. Depends on the year as to what’s included. Take a 70
kit for example:
GENERAL:
Model Identification
Serial Numbers and Identification (general syntax, not single car specific)
Exterior Equipment – standard by series/model
Interior Equipment – standard by series/model
Extra cost optional equipment

CHASSIS:
Front springs
Wheels, tires, steering ratios
Rear axle & general suspension info
Rear springs
Brakes – type, material, etc.
Bulbs & Lamps
Fuses & circuit breakers

BODY:
Paint colors w/interior combinations
Vinyl roof, windshield pillar molding, seat belt/shoulder harness colors

DIMENSIONS & WEIGHTS:
All kinds of interior and exterior dimensions (headroom, legroom, trunk
storage, ride heights, etc.
Weights of all series and models

POWER TRAINS:
Power team combinations (engine/trans/rear ratio)
Other misc tech stuff few really care about today like pounds per cubic inch in
various series/models.
Some engine specs like camshaft lifts, valve sizes, air/fuel filters, carb
types, exhaust, etc.

Usually a photocopy of one or more sales brochures with whatever info was put
out for that year.

Factory options lists. Many times the ‘Heavy Duty’ options aren’t listed
though, like the L78 in 67, COPO stuff in 69, etc.

Finally there’s usually pages with AMA (Automobile Manufacturers Association)
specs. Much of the same weight, brake, engine, etc. specs found elsewhere but
on what I assume to be in a standard format.

Cool stuff.

the 70 Chevelle Restoration kit. So maybe that is the case then. Thank you
much, Henry

I assume you told the person what car and kit you were looking for? I’d
surmise it’s an operator option whether they ask for a VIN or not. I’d guess
either they ask for a VIN just to make sure the person asking for the kit knows
what kind of car they have or could be the operator doesn’t really know a 70
Malibu from a 70 Chevelle and just uses the VIN to look up the proper kit.
They probably have ‘kits’ for literally hundreds of different Chevrolet models.

I have a quick question. I called the number also and it smoothly. I was not
asked for my vin# though. Does that make any difference in the information that
I will recieve for my 70 Chevelle? ~Henry

I just called the 800 number also and after answering some recorded messages
was forwarded to a lady who checked availability and is sending me a free
restoration kit for my 1970 Chevelle Malibu. She said I would be receiving it
in about 2-4 weeks. I did however have to give her the VIN number of the car
before she would send it. I wasn’t sure from the different answers to this if
I would need it or not so I had it on hand just in case. It all went very
smooth and only took about 5 minutes.
Thanks for making this know to everyone so they could take advantage of it.

I just called the 800 number listed on my site (800 222-1020) and got a
restoration kit for a 69. No charge, no being referred to another source, no
problem.

I'll try the 800 number on Monday and see if I get the same referral. If
soI'll have to update the information on my site.

Please if you will post on the list too, i would like to try this out too.

Thanks
