Correct me if I'm wrong here - I think .030 over is 460 and .060 over is
468.  Std 454 bore is 4.251; +.030 is 4.281 while +.060 would be 4.311

 

Formula:  Bore x Bore x Stroke x .7854 x 8

 

4.281*4.281 = 18.326..

18.33 x 4 = 73.32

73.32 x .7854 = 57.585..

57.59 x 8 = 460.72

A 402 is a +.030 396.  You can punch a 396 out to +.060 making it a 408.

Is the 402 just a 396 with 0,30 over bore or is it a unique block?

The reason I'm asking is because I wonder wether a 396 can be bored more
than a 402

or if they have the same marigins?
