The number on the block pad sounds correct for the vehicle. I don't know
what the original 1 in front of the 7 is on the pad. Usually just 7 for
model year the a and the last 6 of the vin. You should also have some other
letters and numbers on the pad. Will tell you where engine made, date engine
made and then letters which tell what engine hp and if built with a auto or
4 spd trans.

I recently purchased a numbers matching 67 Chevelle SS - My question is the
VIN number on the car should match exactly the engine block number. Is that
correct? The engine number is 17A152662 and the car VIN is
138177a152662....I am missing a 7 in the engine block number versus the VIN
on the body. Any thoughts from you experts?
