Thanks everyone for all the help, if you are curious it was a module, i had 
a spare on hand and when i have time i will take it in and have it tested - 
just to see,,, someone told me that usually a coil will not burn out 
completely (will usually have some spark in it- but not enough to fire the 
engine- 
i had none) also i was told that turning on the ignition and holding a 
soldering gun (not iron) next to the cap and pulling the trigger will make the 
car fire and then you know its not your module.. also the rotor can fail with 
no visual signs and ground out your spark without sending it to the plugs-- 
but i did not try any of this i had the module out before i learned any of 
this...
also heard that the pick-up plate can go bad too-?
