Hullo John and welcome to this forum.
I believe in the golden rule: "What does GM recommend?
The reason is that some plugs may be too hot and destroy your pistons and too cold means no performance and bad fuel consumption.

Hi.........new person here. I've been reading this list for awhile, very impressed with all the knowledge. I've learned quite a bit already. I also have a question about plugs:

I'm restoring a 70 Chevelle Malibu, engine & trans were built when I bought it. Has a 454, .030 over, Magnum cam, 750 Holley (vac. secondary's), TH350 w/kit, TCI converter- 2000 stall, 12 bolt posi-4.88 gears, headers, roller rockers, etc. I was racing it (12.5 sec., 108 mph)......now I'm restoring it for show.

My question is: what plugs would be recommended for street use/smooth idle? I had "Splitfire" plugs in it but one just quit working and they were expensive. I expect a number of opinions but I have no idea what would be best to use. Thanks for any help (I'm sure I'll have more questions).

You know, I assume the racing plug are in the cool range, and they may
tend to foul at idle when the choke is activated.?

I used to run them in my Monte Carlo, they definatly do not like to
idle and cruise very much, but the car really didn't like to do that
much anyway (lots of cam but lots of fun!!!). I started running AC
Delcos and they seemed to do better at idling around, but not much.

I have been using the Autolite Racing AR 3934 plugs in my BB. The
car is street driven with an occasional full throttle blast. I
have one that fouled and will replace it tomorrow. Do any of you
use this plug and how do you like it? Fouling problems?
