I believe Larry's point was that a 1959 Chevrolet was sacrificed to make the video, just like Hollywood does from time to time. Granted it probably was not fine restored vehicle, but never the less something someone could have used and saved.
We argue all day about frames and steel gauge's, but the fact is an '09 is certainly going to fair better in a crash like this. It has 50 more years of design and technology. It would be like in 1959 taking a '59 and running it into a 1909 - what do you think might happen. It wasn't until until 1966 were seat belts made mandatory in US vehicles and didn't appear as a law to wear them until the mid '80s for most states. Maine and South Dakota made in law in 1995.
