It's an anti-squeak device, not a shim. THere should be 4 total, one on each
brake pad.

Took apart my front brake caliper & pads. There were 2 thin sheetmetal
"shims" between the pads & caliper body on the outboard side & also one
between the pad and anti-rattle clip on the inboard side.
What purpose do they serve?
Do I need 3 total on each side?
