The spring clamp for the boot is not available. You can get the boot
over pin at the top although it is not an easy job and you have to do it
very carefully otherwise the boot will tear. I just finished doing this
job on Saturday for the steering shaft for my 70 convertible.

Subject: [Chevelle-list] Intermediate shaft rebuild

I disassembled (as far as I could) the intermediate steering shaft on
my 72 el camino. The rubber pot joint seal ( # 69) on the end was
shot. Exploded diagram is here:

First I need item # 71 in the diagram. It is a retaining spring.
Mine has a small crack & will reuse it if I can't find one. Any ideas
to a source?

Second thing & more important, Its become obvious that the cross pin
( #72) needs to come out if I want to get the new seal in place. It
appears to be a press fit. I hammered on it a bit and it doesn't seem
to want to move. So before I do permanent damage, any directions to get
it out? I have access to a press at work & I'm guessing that is what I
will need. Thanx
