Solidaridad Inmigrante Dupage anuncia publicamente su rechazo del congresista
anti-inmigrante Peter Roskam del districto 6to.
Solidaridad Inmigrante Dupage ha sido activo en Glendale Heights y el area
alredador
educando, organizando y unificando la comunidad en apoyo de los derechos del
inmigrante, refugio y trabajador.
Haremos una denuncia en frente de la oficina de Roskam mientras expresamos
nuestra solidaridad con la creciente comunidad inmigrante y latina de Dupage.

Immigrant Solidarity Dupage publicly announces its rejection of Congressman
Peter Roskam’s (6-District) immigrant bashing in Dupage County.
Immigrant Solidarity Dupage has been active in Glendale Heights and the
surrounding communities of Dupage educating, organizing and unifying the
community in support of immigrant refugee and worker rights.
We will denounce Roskam in front of his office in Bloomingdale while expressing
our solidarity with the growing immigrant community in Dupage. Speakers will
include members of Immigrant Solidarity Dupage, local religious leaders from
the Christian, Jewish and Moslem faiths, student leader Erika Sanchez from
Northern Illinois University and allies Jorge Mujica from the March 10th
Committee and Tim Bell from the Chicago Workers Collaborative

El miembro del Congreso Peter Roskam del districto 6to (lo nuestro) se ha
embarcado en otra campaña “de culpar a Pedro ” diseñado para su aumeto político
a corto plazo dirigido a las elecciones del 8 de noviembre. El 19 de
septiembre, Roskam, despues de su primer termino en el congreso y busca un
segundo término contra su contrincante democráta Jill Morganthaler fue, el
primer congresista en hacer uso de anuncios inflamatorios contra los
inmigrantes en Illinois este ciclo de elecciónes en unas piezas de correo
directo enviado a sus partidarios. Estos anuncios, pagados por el partido
republicano de Illinois, hace uso de palabras en código contra-inmigrantes
tales como “illegales” en referencia a los inmigrantes indocumentados. La
campaña de Roskam también incorpora estereotipos anti-Latinos ofreciendo
imágenes de los tipos hispánicos de “brinca-barda” mientras que pregunta si “”
tenemos “bastante seguridad en la frontera”
En adición, Roskam, otra vez en lengua cifrada, sugiere que cualquier clase de
reforma migratoria- una politica favorecida por la mayoría de los americanos-
se trata de “conceder amnistía.” “Merecemos mejor que esto " sugiere Roskam. El
miembro del Congreso envió estos anuncios un día después de que el grupo de los
Americanos Para Una Inmigración Legal PAC (ALIPAC, por sus siglas en ingles),
un grupo extremista que favorece una deportacion en masa, anunció su endoso a
Roskam diciendo que lo daba un grado de “A”. En suma, Roskam, que hizo uso de
anuncios similares hace dos años en la campaña contra su contricante democráta
Tammy Duckworth, se ha sumado a la oleada de odio y de violencia que ha rodeado
la discusión de la inmigración.
Es el deseo de nosotros en la Solidaridad Inmigrante Dupage (comité
independiente de la comunidad) hacer denuncia pública a Roskam por hacer uso de
retórico y imágenes que demonizan a los inmigrantes y latinos mientras que
expresamos nuestra solidaridad con “los de abajo”-- la clase-trabajadora
indocumentada.

What: 6th District Congressman Peter Roskam has embarked upon another “Blame
Pedro” Campaign designed for short-term political gain heading into November’s
elections. On September 19, Roskam, a freshman in Congress seeking a second
term against Democratic challenger Jill Morganthaler, would become the first
congressman to make use anti-immigrant ads in Illinois this election cycle with
a direct-mail piece sent out to supporters. These ads, paid for by the Illinois
Republican Party, make use of the anti-immigrant code word “illegals” in
reference to the nations undocumented immigrant population. The Roskam campaign
also incorporates anti-Latino stereotypes by featuring images of
“border-hopping” Hispanic types while questioning whether “we” have “enough
border-security.”
In addition, Roskam, again in coded language, suggests that any kind of an
immigration reform- a policy favored by most Americans- amounts to “granting
amnesty.” “We deserve better than this” suggests Roskam. The congressman sent
out these ads a day after Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC) an
anti-immigrant, enforcement only, extremist group announced their endorsement
of Roskam giving him an “A” rating. In sum, Roskam, who made use of similar ads
two years ago in his campaign against Democratic challenger Tammy Duckworth, is
adding to the surge of hate and violence that has surrounded the immigration
debate.
It is the desire of us in Immigrant Solidarity Dupage to publicly denounce
Roskam’s use of rhetoric and imagery that demonizes immigrants and Latinos,
while expressing our solidarity with the nation’s underclass of undocumented
workers.
