*Bank of America Receives 25 Billion in Bailout, Might Pull Financing at Local Factory, 300 Jobs Hang in Balance*
*Community and Workers Seek Answers at Bank of America* * Press Contact: Mark Meinster: (773) 405-3022 Bank of America is the primary lender for Chicago-based Republic Windows and Doors, LLC, who told its workers today that it might shut their doors due to lack of financing. The company, in business since 1965, announced to its workforce that the Bank has their future in its hands. Workers will rally and picket, and concerned clergy and community delegates will request that Bank of America keeps its credit line open for Republic Windows and Doors, LLC, and saves 300 jobs. Workers also demand that the company seek alternatives to closure and pay workers their owed wages, benefits and severance owed under the WARN Act if the factory shuts its doors "We are fighting for our families and our future", says Armando Robles, a maintenance employee and local union president, "taxpayers gave Bank of America billions and they turn around and close our company, we will fight for a bailout for workers." When presenting his economic team, President-Elect Barack Obama said he wanted to save up to a million jobs in year. Bank of America has the chance to save 300 jobs right now with one tenth of one percent of the bailout money they got from the U.S. government on account of the taxpayers. "We will be fighting this injustice toward working people. We gave our lives to this company and they slammed the door on us", said Melvin Macklin, glass assembler and local union vice-president. *Visual: Workers and community representatives picketing with signs outside Bank* of America When: 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 25 Where: Bank of America, 321 S.
