Those interested in helping these employees obtain ownership might contact the
Ohio Employees Ownership Center at Kent University.
330-672-3020 or [email protected]. This organization has nearly 20 years experience
advising, organizing and assisting in "take overs"or buyouts, usually with
local community support. They have a monthly newspaper "Owners At Work" . With
anticipated repeats in the year(s) to come of these plant closings, especially
those with labor unions,, this may be an opportunity for UE to finally step
forward out of obscurity and provide innovative leadership.

For too long Americans have lacked the patience to take the time and do the
hard detailed work to bring about meaningful change. The left admires the
progress in Venezuela and Bolivia etc. but these successes `did not pop out of
the ground overnight. The widespread public anger at Wall Street and the entire
top level financial system represented at its worst by the giants like the Bank
of America. Now is an opportune time for effective follow up. UE and others
might down load "Reforming Capitalism With Worker Owners " by Shann Turnbull
under workers as owners google search. He wrote "Democratising the Wealth of
Nations" in 1975 as founder of and former President of
Australian Owners Association. This page has a wealth of important advice on
the pitfalls, legal and economic complexities of organizing sustainable worker
ownership.

Buena suerte

Subject: [NAIR_CC:3968] March 10th Committee Fundraiser for the Republic
Workers

Fundraiser for the Windows of Opportunity Fund
Sunday, December 14th at 3 PM
3442 W. 26th, at the Mission of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Share with the March 10th Committee music and food to raise funds for
the newly created Windows of Opportunity Fund.

"Negotiations were unable to come up with an immediate solution to
re-open the factory, said organizers for the United Electrical, Radio and
Machine Workers of America, the workers' union. However, a fund to try and
re-open the plant -- called the Windows of Opportunity Fund -- would be started
with donations received during the sit-in, they said."

We can all help Republic's workers even further. Come up and help the
Windows of Opportunity Fund!

If you need to write a check, make payable to UE Local 1110 Solidarity
Fund.

For more info call Orlando S. at 773-387-8225
