**** Please forward widely *** Please forward widely *** Please forward widely **** *The 6th anniversary of the Iraq invasion rolls around this March. We'll have a new president -- and an ongoing U.S. military occupation in Iraq, a troop surge into Afghanistan, the continuing U.S.-bankrolled siege of Gaza, and a pledge by the new president to increase the size of the U.S. military. * Tax dollars that AREN'T funding war and occupation abroad are going to bail out banks and big business leaders at home -- *but not the working people who are bearing the brunt of the current economic crisis. * Immigrants' rights remain under attack, economic inequality is mounting, veterans' care is a national disgrace, and local communities are contending with severe problems that range from mass home foreclosures to environmental degradation. Clearly, the anti-war movement has a lot of work to do -- and now more than ever that includes connecting the dots between the war on peoples' well-being and dignity at home and U.S. government-sponsored imperial wars abroad. Join us on *Saturday, January 10* from *3 pm to 6 pm* at St. Pius Church, 1919 S. Ashland (just south of the church's main entrance) on Chicago's near south side to plan Chicago's response to the 6th anniversary of the U.S. invasion of Iraq and the economic and social ills that stem from war and occupation. *This is an open planning meeting for all who want to discuss and propose action(s) in the run-up to this March -- and beyond -- including our demands and program of action.* For more info or to sign onto this call, email [email protected] or call 773-209-1187. 8th Day Center for Justice ANSWER – Chicago Chicago Area CodePINK Chicago Coalition Against War & Racism Comité 10 de Marzo/The March 10 Committee Comité Anti-Militarización Gay Liberation Network International Solidarity Movement/Chicago Iraq Veterans Against the War/Chicago La Voz de los de Abajo North Shore Coalition For Peace & Justice Peace Pledge/Chicago World Can't Wait ------------------------------ One site keeps you connected to all your email: AOL Mail, Gmail, and Yahoo Mail.
