The Council Endorses Rally to Stop Israel's War Crimes

The Council endorses and wholeheartedly supports this Friday's (1/2/2009) rally
and march calling for an immediate cessation of Israel's brutal, excessive and
criminal aggression against the beleaguered men, women and children living in
the Gaza Strip.

On Monday the Council issued a press release condemning Israel's military
campaign in the blockaded Gaza Strip. In Monday's statement the Council
unequivocally described Israel's aggression as state sponsored terror.

The Council calls upon all of its member mosques to make immediate arrangements
to turn out the diverse American-Muslim community that resides in Illinois.
Member mosques are urged to organize buses to facilitate easy transportation to
and from the rally. Khateebs are respectfully requested to dedicate this
Friday's Khutba to the suffering of the people of Gaza and the duty of Muslims
to do their part to help alleviate the Gazans' suffering.
Over the past 16 years the Council has formed strong relationships with
religious and community organizations throughout Illinois. The Council is
calling upon its partners and friends and all people of conscience to step
forward and work immediately to halt the Israeli assault on Gaza and to lift
the blockade against the Palestinians of Gaza. The Council's partners and
friends are also urged to stand with Muslim and Arab Americans this Friday
afternoon.

Declaration of the March 10th Movement in Support of Palestinian People
12-28-08

The March 10th Movement severely condemns the military attacks against the
people of Palestine in the Gaza Strip. The genocide of men, women, children by
the Israeli government should not be tolerated, accepted or justified.
Unfortunately, the division within the political forces in Palestine does not
help to provide a creative and unified leadership against the occupation by
Israel, and gives excuses to Israel and some part of the international
community to justify the genocide against the Palestinian people.

But we have historical memory. We know the historical aggression, massacre and
occupation by the Israel government of the land of Palestine. We demand
compliance by Israel of the more than 427 United Nations resolutions issued
against the occupation since 1967, which have not been enforced by the
international community.

Today, more that ever, we need to stand up and not allow impunity for this new
crime. We must be part of an international mobilization against the massacre by
the Israel government.

We know that the Bush administration will justify any activity of the Israeli
government against Palestine, but we hope that the administration, elected
under the promise of “Change”, changes this policy. We demand that Barack
Obama’s administration change the “unconditional” support given to Israeli
aggressio n by the current government.

Finally, we support and will be present at the action called by the solidarity
movement for Friday, January 3rd, at 3:00 p.m., at the Chicago Tribune Plaza,

Free Palestine, End of the occupation NOW!!!
