this library will finally drive me crazy %-] I gave the version you
provided
here a try and it compiled -- but CHICKEN failed to link against it,
because
the resulting library did not contain some of the essential functions like
ffi_call!
Before someone asks: I'm running MacOS X 10.4.3, XCode 2.2, gcc 4.0.1
