All this lib- vs. cyg- stuff happens *below the radar* for people using
autotools, or indeed for people *not* using autotools.  You have to
muck around at the level of "ld" in order to change it.  Nobody
wants to do that.

And I just read the "ld" man page for the first time ever, and there's
not a word about how the "-0" gets there.
