No, both 2.41 and darcs HEAD autotools build work; darcs HEAD CMake
build adds that unwanted ".setup" to the name of the egg.

I've thrown a Wild Assed Guess (WAG) into Darcs.  One thing that was different between Autotools and CMake, is the latter used fully qualified pathnames for the CC and CXX compilers.  No longer.  Does this solve the problem?

Otherwise, I must confess, I really don't know how the code in chicken-setup.scm works.  At present I don't wish to learn about it either.  This looks like a job for Felix.
