Good question!
I haven't actually yet seen any portfiles that included explicit -O
flags, so I'm not sure what the MacPorts policy/practice is; I'll look
into it.
Thinking about it, though, shouldn't we specify a reasonable
optimization level by default in the Chicken distribution? (Felix?)
The default options are usually "-Os -fomit-frame-pointer". This generates
reasonably fast code and relatively small binaries.
