Getting IUP working outside of Windows was a bit of a headache for me, too.

IIRC, along with ffcall you'll need to install:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/imtoolkit/
http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/cd/
http://www.tecgraf.puc-rio.br/iup/
