I have had two Chihuahuas who ate cat feces, and from what I have been told, most dogs will eat it if they have the opportunity to do so. Lacey, my current Chi, will only eat the feces if her food bowl runs low, so I try to check it regularly. Your vet can give your Chi a shot to offset any negative reactions to this practice.
