I use "Hartz Advanced Care Ear Cleaner for Dogs & Cats" on my Chi, Scamp. I squirt some in and massage the base of his ear. Then he shakes his head pretty vigorously and gets rid of the excess. It works great, too. I even used it to help get rid of skunk odor when Scamp got sprayed by one.
