I am pretty sure that there is something added to cat food that cats have to have.  I saw a show on Animal Plant with a cat hoarder who only fed her cats cereal and they were going blind and it was irreversible because they didn't get this vitamin or mineral that is added to cat food for this purpose.  Maybe you should check with your vet?

LOL, I KNOW I would have that problem....if it wasn't for the fact that my
cats REFUSE to eat cat food. They prefer dog food, so I just feed everyone
the same thing. lol. I know it probably isn't good for the cats, but with
everything they catch, it can't be worse than dead moles, mice, ect!
However, I did hear once that there was something that is added to cat food
that is good for cats but very dangerous for dogs. Can't remmy what it was
though. :-( So, I know my cats are missing that ingredient, but at least my
dogs are not getting it. If you are having a hard time keeping the chis out
of the cat food, you may want to research and find out what it is because
you don't want to chance harming the chis.
