So how did you deal with it?? Personally, I gave up and put the cats out!!
lol. That was ok though, because as much as the chis loved to play in the litter
box, so did the cats love to play in the bird cage!!! lol

Marsha, I really laughed out loud at your response. We have four
resecued cats and three chihuahuas. Our Pancho, Cisco and Rosie all
think the litter box is full of "tootsie rolls." It is a constant
challenge.
I
have always wandered how one managed to litter train a chi. Sounds
like such a good idea, but I happen to know from experience (and as a cat
owner also) that my chis prefer to play in and eat the litter as opposed
to pottying in it...so I too am interested in knowing how any of you
managed this. Marsha
