I am not a fan of getting a puppy around the holidays either, but since I will be the caregiver (It ended up that way with my other dogs, but I don't mind because it's a labor of love), I don't feel that the burden is solely placed on my daughter. It's my husband that needs to be convinced that she'll still feel that this is for Christmas, but from Mom and Dad, it's not like we're telling her it's from Santa, as rightly stated by Marsha, there's always plenty. He's already over 4 months old and she'll still get presents for her new Pup for Christmas too. Also, Thanksgiving will be more busy for our family than Christmas, so that was a good point about waiting until after. Besides, that's when it starts feeling like Christmas. I will pass on these concerns to my husband and hope he agrees.
