I have never heard of anything wrong with peanut butter, but
maybe you should ask the vet....some dogs may be allergic the way humans
are....I don't know, never really thought about it. Personally, when it comes
pill time for my dogs, they get it in a little piece of a hotdog!! lol. Of
course if one chi is taking meds, there will be a group of chis standing
around....so they gotta have their bite of hotdog too!! lol. Takes a whole
hotdog everytime one chi has to have one little pill!! lol
Don't be so hard on yourself over the door. You are human, and
we all simply screw up sometimes. Just count your blessings that things are
looking good for Sophie. It could have been a lot worse.
Marsha.

Subject: [Chihuahuas] Sophie update
Hi again
Thank u all for the thoughts and advice and comfort. I am doing
much better tonight! Sophie did come home.=) The vet was pleased
with Sophie's progress today, thought I could handle her ok at home, and
didn't even suggest keeping her. I am soo relieved. Some blood
clot she had in or on her eye had reabsorbed a lot and he was much more
optimistic today. Next week, when she has her recheck, he is hoping the
clot will be gone and then he will be able to actually see back into her eye
and know more about her vision. Sophie still has the strict orders on
"bedrest". She has a cone on her head. Yes, the doctor is an
Opthamologist specialist. For everything going bad yesterday, I feel
lucky his practice was close by. The bill<emergency vet
bills..blah> was about half of what I thought it would be. Even below
his estimate. Now that is an honest guy! Im not mad at mama
cat either, Marsha. I try to figure out why I am so distraught over
this, and besides Sophie being hurt badly, I think Im mad at myself for
leaving the dang door open=\ OK. A new question.
The point of this letter. lol. Sophie came home on 4
medicines. One is atropine into her eye. It does get down into her
mouth from her nasal passage. It is suppose to taste horrid. Im
supposed to give her a treat after to get the taste out of her mouth. She cant
have anything chewy for a week. I was thinking smooth peanut
butter? Just a little swab of it into her mouth with my finger?
Dogs dont tend to have allergies to peanut butter do they?
Thanks again everyone. Such a nice nice group!!!=)
