Im new too! > Hi everyone, > for starters, i am so sorry about the loss of the baby mentioned > yesterday... > > I will b a new chi owner round the 3rd week of Dec, depending on how > shes doin cause that will b 10 wks old then (should i have her keep > the puppy longer?) ive been readin up already on all the books i > could get from the library. Yes the "chi for dummies" is the only > one ive renewed. YES, YOU SHOULD HAVE THE BREEDER HANG ON TO HER A BIT LONGER....NOT SO MUCH DUE TO AGE, BUT DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE BUSY HOLIDAY IS NOT AN IDEAL TIME TO GET A NEW PUP. PUP WILL BE NERVOUS WITH THE CHANGE AND THE STRESS OF FESTIVITIES AND YOU WILL BE BUSY WITH HOLIDAY NECCESSITIES. IF POSSIBLE, HOLD OFF TILL AFTER THE HOLIDAYS. > > I am joining this group/network to find the best possible vets(i > live in lynnwood) and special care and needs info, and i am looking > for a good small dog school, and looking for others in my area to go > on walks and do dog stuff(as soon as she is a little older and its > warmer of course!) > SO,i figured who all best to ask? My cat is very needy and follows me everywhere unless shes > sleeping. I love her soooo much and do not wanna displace her. > anyone have a cat experience to share? IT HAS BEEN MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE AND I HAVE ALSO HEARD FROM MOST OTHERS THAT THEY AGREE, THAT GENERALLY CHIS AND CATS GET ALONG GREAT TOGETHER. BE CAREFUL WHILE THE PUP IS SO YOUNG SO THAT IT ISN'T ACCIDENTLY HURT, ECT., BUT ONCE IT IS OLDER, YOU WILL LIKELY FIND THEY BECOME GOOD FRIENDS! mY PERSONALLY STORIES??? ONE CHI NAMED JOE WAS BEST FRIENDS WITH CAT PUDDY. WHEN JOE DIED, I TRULY THOUGHT PUDDY WOULD GRIEVE HERSELF TO DEATH. SHE MOPED AROUND AND WOULDNT EAT FOR WEEKS. SHE WAS VERY MUCH IN MOURNING. ABOUT A MONTH LATER, I GOT CHI GINGER. PUDDY LATCHED ON TO GINGER, AND NOW THE TWO ARE INSEPERABLE!! CHI PEPPER HAS BUDDIED UP WITH CAT TAFFY AND YOU WILL FIND THEM CURLED AOUND EACH OTHER FOR A "CAT" NAP" LOL > > 2)I feed my cat raw(barf) diet, she has food allergies and this is > the only thing that works(her coat is amazing now), i didnt want her > on steroids the rest of her life, the vet told me that it was ok to > be, i said bull honky. when should it b ok to start the puppy on > this too? NO EXPERIENCE WITH THE BARF DIET....PERSONALLY, I AM A VEGETARIAN!! LOL. THE ONLY "RAW" MY KIDS GET ARE THE ONES THEY CATCH LOL > > 3)Is there a sample routine for the puppy? like i am lucky, i work > at home, i plan to crate train her and put her behind a baby > gate/playpen while i work and take play breaks, do you think that is > spending TOO much time with the dog? do you think maybe i should be > out of her sight for time im working? I have great fear of a dog w > separation anxiety issues. WHILE YOU CAN'T POSSIBLE SPENT TOO MUCH TIME.....I WOULDN'T WORRY TO MUCH ABOUT THE SEPARATION ANXIETY IF SEPARATION IS SOMETHING THEY GROW WITH. SEPARATION ANXIETY NORMALLY OCCURES AT TWO POINTS....WHEN A PUP IS FIRST REMOVED FROM ITS LITTERMATES (WHICH IS PERFECTLY NORMAL AND A STAGE THEY SIMPLY HAVE TO LEARN TO ADJUST TO) AND WHEN AN OLDER DOG, WHO HAS NOT BEEN SEPARATED, SUDDENLY IS. EXPECT YOUR PUP TO EXPERIENCE SOME ANXIETY IN THE BEGINNING, THIS IS NORMAL, BUT AS SHE GROWS, SHE WILL LEARN THAT, WHILE YOU MAY LEAVE, YOU ALWAYS COME BACK! :-) BEGIN WITH SHORT SEPARATIONS AND LOTS OF ATTENTION UPON RETURN THEN PROGRESS TO LONGER TIMES GONE. DO NOT MAKE A FUSS WHEN YOU LEAVE...DON'T BABY AND COO, SIMPLY STATE YOUR GOOD BYES AND LEAVE. SAVE THE BABYING AND COOING FOR WHEN YOU RETURN. THIS GIVES THEM SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO. > > 4)how far can a regularily exercised chi walk in general? can you > work up to long walks like 3 miles? just curio. MY LAZY CHIS WOULD END UP HITCHING A RIDE IN MY ARMS BEFORE THEY WENT VERY FAR! CHIS ARE VERY ENERGETIC DOGS, BUT KEEP IN MIND, THEY ARE SMALL. EACH DOG WOULD BE DIFFERNT...SOME MAY BE RUNNING CIRCLES AROUND YOU ON A 3 MI WALK AND OTHERS MAY NOT BE ABLE TO MAKE IT. LET YOUR OWN BABY BE YOUR GIUDE ON HOW FAR SHE CAN GO. ALSO, BE SURE TO KEEP PLENTY OF WATER AND PROBABLY EVEN NUTRICAL (CAN'T SPELL THAT WORD!!) BECAUSE IT COULD BE MORE THAN HER LITTLE BODY CAN HANDLE AND YOU COULD BE TOO FAR AWAY FROM HOME TO GET HER REHYDRATED AND "SUGARED UP" IN TIME. > > 5)do you have to buy an extra seat ticket for planes? any special > places i can take her? > EACH AIRLINE IS DIFFERENT. MANY WILL ALLOW A SMALL CARRIER AS A CARRY ON! THIS WOULD BE MY FIRST CHOICE. I PERSONALLY WOULD NEVER PUT A CHI IN A CARGO HOLD! THERE IS A WEB SITE, I THINK THE ASPCA SITE HAS A LINK, THAT LIST ALL MAJOR AIRLINES, THEIR RULES ON PETS AND THE NUMBER OF PETS THAT HAVE DIED OR BEEN LOST IN THERE CARE EACH QUARTER. > 6)i heard/read that you are not supposed to put sweaters and such on > puppies(hair growth). So how do i train it to pee in the cold, could > take awhile, i know how hard it is to pee when IM cold! ha-ha. NO SWEATERS???? PPPFFFFTTTTT:-) MOST CHIS LOVE THEIR SWEATERS! COLD PEEING??? LOL. I PUT MINE OUT ON A CONCRETE, COVERED PORCH AND TELL 'EM THEY AINT COMMING IN TILL THEY DO THEIR DOODIE DUTY!! LOL > > Ok, thanks for any ideas/info you share with me! > > If anyone is interested(call me)-I was looking at two litters in the > northend, from families pets, one of the litters are about 13 weeks > or so and the pups were soooper friendly and the parents were both > sooooo sweet! 2 longhair brown/blk and 2 short blue?brown/blk. she > was asking 300 ea i think, no papers. The second litter will be 10 > weeks round 3rd wk of dec. they had 1 boy shrthair(very sweet) > cream/tan, 1 wht girl shrthair w red/blk nose, and 1 shrt hair > cream/tan girl left. But she has papers(i think) and no i havent > seen pics of the father, and i think they are 600 ea, im not sure... > > Do you think that it is right that(i think she is charging me)800 > for the little girl im getting be cause she is small? i am not going > to breed and dont even want the papers... i dont know can someone > tell me? (before i have to go talk money with them next week.) PRICES WILL VARY AND BASICALLY THE PUP IS WORTH WHATEVER SOMEONE IS WILLING TO PAY. IS SHE CHEATING YOU?? NO, I HAVE SEEN THEM MUCH HIGHER. CAN YOU GET ONE CHEAPER? ABSOLUTELY....JUST HAVE TO BE WILLING TO PATIENTLY WAIT FOR THE RIGHT ONE TO COME ALONG. :-) > > oh my gosh this is a long letter, hee hee, sorry bein a geek. > bye! smiles! > AND LOUD REPLIES :-) HEY WE ARE ALL CHI GEEKS HERE! :-) GOOD LUCK > oh, pics! > not sure how to do this...um i think i have to make a photo album? > > > > > > > > > > > > " Lets talk about our wonderful little friends! > Join today!
