If the yelping or saying "ouch" doesn't work, try giving him a quick
little spray of water in the face (with the water bottle on stream).
There is a difference between puppy play and wanting to be king of
the castle. I would assume that if he continues even after the
yelping, that he want's to be boss and feels he has the upper hand.

Yes, that one spray in the face with the water bottle, STOPS the barking! Oh, Thank goodness!

As far as the hard biting, my Tico learned fast! Another Thanks to the book, Chihuahua for Dummies! They are smart and sensitive little beings, and they don't want to hurt you, so yeah, all I had to do was cry out in pain, and he learned to not bite so hard.

I let him bite me, cause I like the roughhouse.
My partner doesn't let hi bite, and Tico can go from one of us in play to the other, remembering our choices! What a dog!

Yeah, I agree, because they are so smart, you do have to set who is where the pack, which I have learned is how dogs operate, descendants of wolves, pack animals they are, with a hierarchy.

Alas, I'm not the alpha, according to our little dog, my partner is! LOL.
