Hi guys.  Research is always good, don’t you just love the internet J - I just thought I would throw my two cents in here.  When we got Trinity she was already 2 years old.  She was a rescue and very, very thin.

The rescue home that she came from was feeding her well but she still was not gaining weight.  We decided to feed her puppy food thinking that she would be getting more calories and nutrients while not filling up her tiny tummy.  It worked.  We have always free feed her and she slowly came up to her ideal weight.  Once she reached that, we weaned her over to adult small dog formula.  While we still free feed, she mostly nibbles when she is hungry and has not gained or lost.  I was afraid if we stayed on the puppy stuff she would have started packing on some pounds.

Mostly, I am just happy that she is not skin and bones anymore and really energetic.

  • That is what my family member told me to. I will do some more research on it. Thank you very much!
