Yes, When you take a dog into your family, YOU then become part of their
pact of animals, they relate to you, as though you were part of their wolf pact,
as they are descended from Wolves.
It's funny, I have some neighbors who love my little Tico, but always,
always relate only as humans, not ever thinking of how Dogs are wired, we're
similar, but just a bit different.
I myself, think they do have memory, long term and short term.
And, you do have to establish a pecking order, otherwise, THEY will take on
that role.
Our little Tico loves being submissive, he loves to please us. Most dogs
do.
