I currently have 3 males and two females. My hearing dog, who is not one of
my breeders, is the alpha male in our family. He took over that role only
after Joe (my prior hearing chi) died. After Joe died, Honey and Ginger came
along. Honey is a male and there was never any problems. Pepper is still the
Alpha male.....although Ginger is certainly the Alpha female here! (Honey is
soooo whipped!). Then Taz came along. There were no problems and Taz and
Honey got along fine and Pepper was still the Alpha male. When we got Dinah,
she was in heat the day we brought her home....and it has been pure war ever
since. Dinah was intended to be Taz's mate, since Honey and Ginger were a
pair. However, EVERYONE loved Dinah! Taz was humping her, Honey was humping
her, and Pepper, who is neutered, was the only one successful! Even Ginger
was humping! sighhhh. Dinah's heat ended, but I still have to keep an eye on
Honey and Taz, because now they fight like crazy. Before Dinah, there were
no problems. Just goes to show some male traits cross the species barrier.
They all go crazy over a cute girl!
