I would like to break Penny of barking, in fact I would like to
break all 3 of my little ones from barking when they go outside. My
husband Jim calls them "Yippy, Yappy and Yahooey" . We got Pete and
Penny when they were 4 years old and they came from an abusive home.
Penny already cowers when she thinks she has done something wrong ( very
submissive ). We have had them for 2 1/2 years now and they have made
great progress, but, I'm afraid of being harsh with her and ruining what
progress we've made. Does anyone have any suggestions.

Bunny is in the process of being taught, "ENOUGH".
She doesn't bark often but when she does I spritz her with the bottle
and say, "ENOUGH!" after a few barks. So now when something
happens that she deems barkable she just stands up and does a low growl
and looks at what is bugging her. I can't stand yappy dogs, I
sure hope this works in the long run with
her. Stevie Yorkiemom

You are so right. Penny barks at the Geese on the lake behind
our house. I should say she barks at the geese, the Swans, the
birds, the ice cracking and anything else that makes the slightest
bit of sound. I would like to think that she is communing with
nature..LOL...:-)

MMMM, for some reason the reply got deleted. My reply was
that if he wasn't barking his little head off at the raccoons, he
would be barking at something else. There is a reason that non-chi
lovers refer to our beloved breed as a yapping rat! lol

So, no
advice on Tico's fear of the night time invasion by the Raccoons?
